Privacy notice

What is kept, and what never is.

The board is built so that nothing you post can be traced back to you. Booking Kay for an event, or asking to hear when the shop opens, is different: each asks for an email, so she can reply.

Draft for Kay to approve. This notice is not in force yet.

1Who looks after your data

Kay looks after this site and the data it keeps. To ask about your data, or anything on this page, email her at kayonpurpose@outlook.com.

Kay’s full name and postal address, as the person responsible for this site, will be shown here before the board opens.

Posts can reveal religion, health or sex life, which the law treats as especially sensitive. That is why the board never asks for a name, account or contact detail.

You can sign a poem with your name. If you do, it is shown with the poem for anyone to read, and it says something about you alongside what the poem says, so add it only if you’re happy to be known as the writer. Leave it blank and the poem goes up as Anonymous. Taking the poem down with your private code removes your name with it. Your private code is shown to you once and never kept in a form anyone can read.

3What is never kept

  • With anything on the board: your name, email, phone number or address.
  • Your IP address next to anything you post.
  • Advertising or tracking cookies.

4Booking Kay

The booking form asks for your name, an email address for Kay’s reply, and what you choose to tell it about your event. Only Kay sees them, to answer you and arrange the booking. They are kept for 12 months after the enquiry was last dealt with, then deleted automatically. Nothing from the form is ever shown on the board.

5The shop’s waiting list

While the shop is closed, you can ask to hear when it opens. The list keeps your email address, the date you joined and the words you agreed to: one email from Kay when the shop opens, and nothing else. It is never linked to anything you post, like or report.

Kay sends that email herself, from her own address, with everyone’s address hidden from the others, and then deletes the whole list. If she hasn’t, each address is deleted on its own 12 months after it was added. You can take yours off at any time with the same form on the shop page, or by replying to Kay’s email.

6Who else handles it

Cloudflare hosts the site and its database, runs the checks that slow down automated spam, and runs the AI safety check that reads posts before they go up. Like any host, Cloudflare sees your IP address when your browser connects. This site does not keep a record of each visit; it records only its own errors. Emails to Kay go to her Outlook mailbox, run by Microsoft. Buying a journal happens on TikTok Shop, under TikTok’s own privacy notice. The follower and like counts for Kay’s TikTok are read from TikTok twice a day through TikTok’s own connection, which Kay allows from her desk; nothing about you is sent to TikTok to do it.

7Your browser

The board keeps a small note in your own browser: a random code so a like or a report counts once, and which posts you liked or reported. The code is sent to the site only when you like or report something. Which posts are yours is kept only until you close the tab, so nobody who uses this phone or computer after you can see what you wrote. A poem you are writing is kept as a draft in the same way, until the tab is closed.

To clear the note at any time, use Forget this device at the foot of any page, or clear this site’s data in your browser’s settings. The quick exit clears it too.

8Your rights

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how it is used. Because posts carry no name, the reference you are given when you post is how a post can be found as yours.

A complaint about your data is acknowledged within 30 days, looked into, and answered. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
